"With the airlines making bike travel increasingly more difficult and costly, we
are excited about our ability to provide a service that addresses these issues for
cyclists."
BikeFlights.com was founded by cyclists to serve the needs of travelers with bicycles.
The company strives to encourage bike travel, reduce CO2 emissions through carbon
offset flights, and give back to the cycling community through contributions to
advocacy organizations.
- Bill Alcorn, Founder BikeFlights.com started as a vision in early 2009 to make traveling with a bike easier and to give cyclists the information they need when traveling somewhere to ride. Through a partnerships with airline travel industry leader Amadeus, BikeFlights was able to build their own booking engine so cyclists can easily search, compare, and purchase all on one site.
"We are excited about the opportunity to work with bicycle tour companies that and
need to get clients and bikes to their destinations"
Another partnership, this one with shipping leader FedEx, allowed for custom shipping
offerings that are geared toward bike boxes and wheel boxes. Consumers can easily
ship and track their beloved bicycles to their destination. All can be purchased,
easily and securely, online using major credit cards.
- Bill Alcorn, Founder BikeFlights has also partnered with The Carbon Fund so that each and every flight sold is carbon offset. By aiding efforts to reduce carbon emissions elsewhere through reforestation or alternative energy products, The Carbon Fund helps to neutralize the carbon footprint of air travel.
"Folks can use us to only buy a flight if they wish and it still helps biking. Our
contributions give back to the cycling community and our carbon offset flights protect
the places we ride."
Currently BikeFlights.com is looking to form partnerships with bike companies and
content providers to increase our online offerings to the cycling community. We
are also interested in advertising and partnerships opportunities and look forward
to building relationships with like minded organizations.
