About the Ends of the Earth Mid-Atlantic Bike Ride

The ride will begin and end in historic Gettysburg, Pa., also known as “the turning point” of the American Civil War. The pre-field ride will include some majestic scenes on the Gettysburg Battlefield including Devil’s Den, Big Round Top, Little Round Top, Pickett’s Charge, and the Eternal Light Peace Memorial.  The MABR is a four state ride into MD, WV, and VA while riding into Civil War history with additional battlefield views of Antietam, Harper’s Ferry, and Winchester.

Riders will cover 250-300 miles and experience the same terrain where the Union and Confederacy fought over state’s rights and slavery. Along with significant points of Civil War history, the MABR will traverse rolling hills and farmland before crossing mountain passes into Appalachia. As we approach Harpers’ Ferry, WV riders will be able to pedal a portion of the famous Chesapeake and Ohio (C & O) Canal.  The MABR will offer great views with a few moderately challenging elevation gains. May in the Mid-Atlantic area can be very warm with moderate humidity.  Upon returning to Gettysburg, participants can consider staying into the Memorial Day weekend to take in more of Gettysburg’s rich historical experiences. Ride Director, Dan Kriel will be happy to assist with recommendations.
