As one of eight races in the Gran Fondo National Championship Series and as the only USA stop on the Gran Fondo World Tour, the Golden Gran Fondo offers a world class, fun route with accurate chip timing, fully stocked aid stations and a finish line festival including food, drinks and live music.
Based out of beautiful downtown Golden, Colorado, the Golden Gran Fondo takes racers on a historic circuit through the Rocky Mountains. Warm up the legs and observe the area's strong cowboy heritage while circumnavigating North Table Mountain. Then celebrate cycling history while you climb up to the Continental Divide on some of the same roads used in the Coors Classic and featured in the movie American Flyers (Kevin Costner's classic cycling film was set in Golden). Upon reaching the scenic Peak to Peak Highway, you be treated to high alpine vistas, lung busting ascents, a taste of hard pack dirt road and a grand total of 11,000 feet of climbing. It's a great chance to test your climbing prowess along some of the most ruggedly beautiful landscapes anywhere before heading back down to replenish a spiritually happy, but probably very tired you in Golden!
