San Antonio, FL
Who says Florida is flat? Centered in the rolling orange groves of Pasco and Hernando County, the Gran Fondo Florida starts and ends at Local Public House & Provisions on Pennsylvania Avenue in San Antonio, Florida.
The race follows, in part, the proposed Olympic road race course that was part of Tampa’s bid to host the Summer Olympic Games. It travels along rural rolling hills, past horse farms and crystal clear springs and briefly goes through Withlacoochee State Forest and the hills surrounding Brooksville, Florida. At the 89-mile mark, you will enter a piece of US cycling history along Darby road, once home to the famous Darby Road Race that has seen the likes of Tour De France winner Laurent Fignon.
This area is and has been the winter training site of some of the top triathletes in the world including members of the Timex team and the hometown former US National Cycling team members Josh Thornton and Derek Wilkerson.
March is a prime time to exploring this area and getting a jumpstart on your season. It’s not the busy Florida you might think; the route is comprised of remote back roads through horse farms and orange groves. Come be amazed by the quality of roads and terrain - this is an experience that will rewrite your perspective of Florida!
BOOK YOUR SHIPMENT
We've pre-populated a suggested ship-to location (simply click the arrow next to the "where are you shipping to" field) and suggested shipping dates.
You do not have to ship your bike to our suggested location on our suggested dates; you may ship instead to your hotel, a friend's house, a partner carrier holding location or another local bike shop. You may also manually enter different ship dates to better suit your itinerary. You are responsible for getting your bike to/from these locations and assembling and disassembling it or getting help from a local shop. Please note that if you ship your bike to yourself in care of any partner carrier location, you will have to present an ID when picking it up there.
You can pack your bike yourself or hire a shop from our bike shop finder to pack your bike for you. If you need a box or case, check out our store. We’ll pick up your packed bike up from your house or your local bike shop, or you can drop it off at one of our partner carrier locations.
